With this latest ascent—his 31st summit of Mount Everest—Kami Rita has extended a record that seems almost untouchable. Known as the “Everest Man,” his name is now etched deeper into the legacy of the world’s highest peak than perhaps any climber in history.

Each of his 31 summits is a feat in itself—requiring months of preparation, deep reserves of physical and mental strength, and a near-superhuman understanding of Everest’s terrain and temperament. But taken together, they tell a story not just of personal achievement, but of deep commitment to his community and profession.

Kami Rita has long been a leader among Nepal’s Sherpa climbers, advocating for safety, recognition, and fair compensation for the high-altitude workers who make every Everest expedition possible. His record isn’t just a number—it’s a tribute to the skill and resilience of the Sherpa people.
